A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
